FALANGE ESPAÑOLA
Founded in 1933 by José Antonio Primo de Rivera, son of the dictator Miguel Primo de Rivera, the Falange Española was a sort of paramilitary fascist party. It grew rapidly in the early months of the Spanish Civil War, particularly after its leader was executed by the Republicans. Franco later merged the Falange with the Carlistas to form the Falange Española Tradicionalista de las Juntas de Ofensiva Nacional-Sindicalista. After the Civil War, the FET de las JONS was the only legally political party permitted in Franco's Spain. The Falange is still in existence.
